As I ended my post yesterday I commented that my motto is one day at a time. Well yesterday afternoon Tanner spiked a fever of 104+ and had severe abdominal pain. This all happened in a 1 hour period. He was started immediately on 3 antibiotics and given pain meds. they did blood work to rule out issues with organ function such as liver and pancreas. the tests came back all negative and so they are focusing on possibly tyflitis like he had before. So he is off all solid food and no liquids for a few days. hopefully it will resolve quickly.

Feb 27
I came down friday after work and plan to stay through monday night. When I arrived I knew his blood counts were on the move up so I had in the back of my mind planned on taking him home on monday as that would be the day from past discharges . But on Saturday morning his counts regressed and again showed no monocytes, so when I arrived here this morning needless to say still no monocytes, Tanner was more than a bit disappointed. Last night he had a nose bleed that was a bit troublesome but is due to low platelets. So I am now just planning on driving home early tuesday and going to work.
I woke up today and it was a little cloudy and decided to go for a walk. It is funny how during the day the traffic in downtown can be so crowded but this morning there was not a soul out, I think I only saw 3 cars drive by and 1 person out walking dogs. I was really nice to get out.
I attended sacrament meeting here today and as usual it is amazingly spiritual. And today was no exception. The closing hymn was "I am a child of god" the first line of the third verse states "I am a child of god, rich blessings are in store". This went right along with the topic of the meeting which was faith. We need to have faith that blessing are indeed in store for us, sometimes we need to just look for them.
That is pretty much my thoughts for the day, as my motto lately has been it is indeed one day at a time.

round 3
well here we are again. the middle of round 3 and my counts officially zeroed out today. i wish i could say this round has been as quiet and uneventful as last time but it hasnt. as youve probably read in the last few quick posts the first week here was pretty tough. but never worry here we are again safe and sound.
i havent heard from the docs in a few days but the latest news is the next few weeks will be the same as before. watch for counts to come up and then spend some time at home. however the time at home is pretty crucial this time because we are gearing up for our next round which will be the bone marrow transplant. it is very important that my counts look good and i feel as good as possible going into this because the transplant starts with about a week of prepatory chemo, which will be the most intense round i get so that no disease or any of my marrow remain. then they will give the actual transplant- which is basically just like a blood transfusion, its all in a bag that will be hooked up via IV and in it goes! it takes about a week to ten days to reach "engraftment" or the new marrow to grow and start making new cells. once we get there we know the transplant worked and a whole new list of things begin. also the big question of finding a donor has been answered! yes, i do have a perfect match. multiple in fact! the way they will choose is whoever can get in and give the donation according to our timeline will be the lucky one.
Just like everything else there are so many little things that can change and vary but as of right now thats the plan. assuming my counts follow the past, we should have our time home around the beginning of march. until then we thank you for continued prayers thoughts and support, and still use them more than ever!

ive found an app on my ipad that can do some pretty cool stuff with sketches. here are some ive come up with over the last few days. most of it is the app im really not that good but with a little help this is what ive got. none of them really have any significant meaning, just random words that popped into my head and the number 3 being my lucky number, etc.

Feb 16th
Good morning,
Tanner is doing well today, eating well and no nausea or fevers! We have moved rooms again, we are now in 4422. This room has a nice view of the city and is a little bigger. this will be nice for his three week recover here.
Not much else to say, but a big thank you to the Primary kid for all the great Valentines!!

Good morning,
Just a quick update, Tanner is now in room 4414, they moved him up yesterday at two in the morning due to fevers and blood pressure problems. yesterday was not good, but this morning he is looking much better. Today and tomorrow morning are chemo then we are done!! Then we wait and wait for counts to drop, then recover.
So grateful for all your prayers, please keep them coming we need them now as much as ever.

Hello,
Today is day 3 of Chemo, when I got to Tanner's room this morning, he was not doing very well. He had a high fever of 103.8 and was covered with a red rash, and his blood pressure was at 100/35, so they called the Dr's in and started antibiotics, Tylenol, blood pressure meds and blood draws, the nurses stayed for continuous care, it was a bit scary for a couple hours but he is doing much better now. He is sleeping well and looks much better. The Dr's are a little complexed because this sometimes happens when they have received ARA-C (a chemo drug) but he had not received it yet today. So we will stay on antibiotics to make sure there is nothing else going on.
We are in room 3062 for the next 5 or 6 days his counts are still good so they will keep him here till they drop then we go up to ics for the remainder of the month.
We now have a very nice place to stay in Salt Lake for the next 4 months. It is a 2 bed 2 bath with a small kitchen that works great. We are so grateful to have it, and to those who provided it for our family.

Induction number3
Tanner is once again back at PCMC for round number 3. He had a good 2 weeks at home. Although of course it was not long enough. We got the results for his marrow aspiration last Thursday and it came back with no cancer cells seen. We do now know that they do have 2 donors lined up that are a 10 out of 10 match for his marrow transplant. That is good news!!! He is in a room on the 3rd floor for now. I expect that they will move him upstairs to ICS tomorrow to "D"pod. I have been told that they have good views of the valley as opposed to the rocky rooftop. The room here on the 3rd floor is not a good area for him to be in when he starts chemo as is is not a "clean" setting like the ICS is. So we know this is definitely short term. He is anxious to get started and be done with this round so he can move on the transplant mode. I know we have been slow to update but things have been uneventful and (trust me) that is a good thing.
